Larvicidal activities of some plants essential oils of the Cameroonian flora against Anopheles gambiae S.L., major vector of malaria in the city of Douala

The present study aims to investigate the larvicidal activity of essential oils rhizomes Zingiber officinalis, leaves Tithonia diversifolia and Bidens pilosa on mature immature larvae Anopheles gambiae s.l. chemical composition was determined by Gas Chromatography (GC) Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) coupling. activities against An. monitored in laboratory using world health organisation protocol. Chemical analysis has shown that all these are dominated monoterpene α-pinene major compound found T. (69.53%) B. (64.43%); while geranial majority oil Z. officinalis (35.40%). Larvicidal tests showed most effective (LC50 = 70.18 ppm 92.49 respectively for stages after 24 hours exposure). From above, can be recommended development natural biocides malaria vectors.
